Feeding Your Baby
The Womens Health Group support all women in their choice to feed their baby and all staff actively support women who choose to breastfeed.
St. Luke’s Hospital is working towards the UNICEF/WHO Baby Friendly Award for promoting and supporting breastfeeding. It currently has a Certificate of commitment which is awarded when the hospital is committed to being baby friendly. www.ihph.ie/babyfriendlyinitiative
Each midwife at the unit believes that breastfeeding is the healthiest way you can feed your baby. They recognise the important health benefits now known to exist for both you and your baby and they want to do all they can to support you in your decision to breastfeed.
We all have health choices. It is a health choice to breastfeed and all evidence supports breastfeeding as the most appropriate exclusively designed milk for your baby.
